I got an IC for driving two DC motors an STM L in a DIP24 package, datasheet here and I wired it up as illustrated here but when I output the correct logic as described in the datasheet, there appears to be no voltage between any of the output pins.

From the fine datasheet: Who We Are Management. You need a common ground between the Arduino and motor bridge and the battery. Marketing proposal for customer feedback. Please contact our sales support for information on specific devices. Cloud Components and Modules. General terms and conditions. This device needs some external caps and resistors to get the charge pump to operate that drives the upper fets of the integrated h-bridge.

No availability reported, please contact our Sales office. Don’t forget that the motor inrush is much higher than stall current. You need the common ground. Need help with motor driver IC self. Media Subscription Media Contacts.

Here’s the product page. What motors are you using this with as well as how are you getting that 48V DC? It would be helpful in this situation. Become a Redditor and subscribe to one of thousands of communities. Buy Direct Add to cart. Not Recommended for New Design.

If you can do SMD work you can get a lot of these datashet very cheap. Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy. That’s the voltage for the H bridge itself, as in the supply for the H bridge part itself and not the logic circuitry voltage. Do you have access to a scope? Key Features Operating supply voltage from 8 to 52 V 5. Also, if you are really going to be running the full current capacity through this chip then the bread board is going to get a little angry.

L Datasheet(PDF) – STMicroelectronics

Reducing torque variation in half step drive. L, L, L dual full bridge drivers. You are missing quite a bit of components to get this chip up and running. Are you using some big motors? Please refer to page 16 of the datasheet. The device also includes two independent constant off time PWM current controllers that perform the chopping regulation. Want to add to the discussion? Support Home Complete list and gateway to datasheeet services and resource pools.

You aren’t going to be powering that chip from the 5V output of the Arduino. Arduino has enough current for that coming off the 5v pin.

No catasheet taken to produce Proposal: I still stand by the fact that he really needs to look at the REF circuit that ST provides on page Datashert can’t tell from your diagram if you did. Limited Engineering samples available Preview: Product is in design stage Target: Selectors Simulators and Models.

Updated the circuit to the one recommended on page 16 of the datasheet, wired it up like this. Right now looking at it your Arduino ground isn’t tied. Product is in volume production Evaluation: I’ll try that ASAP! Free Sample Add to cart. You are at a point where we aren’t going to be able to debug over the interweb.

No commitment taken to design or produce NRND: Did you also connect some supply power to it. While it is definately the right way to go, it still didn’t help.

Need help with motor driver IC : arduino

Welcome to Reddit, the front page of the internet. Does anybody know why? In case it wasn’t clear from the schematic, the supply voltage for the IC is 48 VDC, so that perfectly within range. I really want to get this to work
