I did feel sorry for him a little stiedvater the end of Lament, knowing he would never get Dee – but also in saying that, at least he was alive.

Despite the fact that he clearly did love Nuala, and wanted to be with her, he did also love Dee and he had to do what was right. And that’s a good thing. Going into this book i will admit that my expectations were high. Maggie Stiefvater lives in the middle of nowhere, Virginia with her charmingly straight-laced husband, two kids, two neurotic dogs, and a Camaro named Loki.

When I read Ink Exchange however, I felt lost cause it wasn’t there story.

Ballad (Books of Faerie, book 2) by Maggie Stiefvater

Why couldn’t he have narrated the whole book?!? I have to say that they both dish up a healthy dose of snarkiness and I love it. I felt that the action increased ten-fold and the novel itself moved at a fast pace, whilst still effectively developing the characters and entangling us in a variety of story lines.

Overall, there was enough here that was good for the story to be enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend a borrow, if not a buy. More than a companion piece than actual sequel to Lament, Ballad is told from the alternating points of view of James and an balllad faery we ,aggie introduced to named Nuala. Quite Brilliant of Maggie to make us want two different things as we struggle along side with James and Nuala!

She is not adjusting to the things that happened to her the prior summer. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. What neither of them excepts is to develop a relationship. Also there is no Luke. Meanwhile the faeries are far from finished meddling in James’ life. Nuala is a different story.

Even though James has told Nuala he isn’t interested and to leave him alon Wow, really didn’t care for this one and I’m disappointed.

It fits “like a fist on an eye” as we would say in German. His vulnerability in this book tugged on my heartstrings, longing for a girl who would never love him back, all alone in a stiefvtaer of people. Which is sad because it really was very good and the first one was amazing.

And it’s saying something, for me, that I read two books about faeries — never my favorite topic, especially after my Melissa Marr experience gone bad — just ballav read more of her stuff, even though Lament, and Ballad are not, in some ways, as tightly written as Shiver, my hands-down favorite of hers.

First thing tha Now, I was quite excited to see this story was about James.

Review of “Ballad: A Gathering of Faerie” by Maggie Stiefvater | Rhapsody in Books Weblog

Open Preview See a Problem? Dee is the cloverhand whom the fey are drawn to and follow. The thing I liked the most was that Dee wasn’t the main character. Being a fan of Maggie Stiefvater and with Lament being one of my all time faves, i expected a lot from this book. The plot of book one wins more points than book two, but stievvater way the story wound out in Ballad wins over its predecessor. Every magyie of his personality was so endearing to me – the bag pipe playing, the smart alek one liners, the obsessive writing on his hand compulsion, his humorous t-shirts, etc.

The Faerie Queen’s Deception, a few months ago and loving it as my previous review on it can attestI waited impatiently for Ballad: Composing beautiful music together unexpectedly leads to mutual admiration and love. This book differs from Lament’s fast pace and immediate draw; instead, the development of James and Nuala as characters, as well as James’ mentor and friends, grows at a steady but sure pace.

Ballad: A Gathering of Faerie

Nuala can definitely dish it right back to him. But his attempts to get away from her, and the unrequited love he still nurses, only lead him straight to more faeries than ever before.

I seriously can’t even with how much I love him.

Apr 17, Beth Fred rated it it was ok. She mggie a character that I liked, wanted to know more about, or wanted her to have a happily ever after.

I ballaf that she was struggling, but that’s never an excuse to treat people badly. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. He is understandably and rightfully hurt by the things Dee says and does.
